Commitment to earth and community care is a cornerstone of ecoblu's and Aveda’s culture. We support values that cultivate a sustainable economy as well as a sustainable environment. We find inspiration for doing so in nature and believe that nature is not merely something to be cherished and protected, but also should be emulated as a model of sustainability.

In our first year of business we are proud to say we participated in:

• Walk for Water - 4K walk raising money for the Gulf Restoration Network

• Rescue's & Runways - fashion show raising money for local animal shelters

• Fort Hood Earth Fest - raising awareness of environmental sustainability in local community

• on-going project to donate hair clippings & nylons to www.MatterOfTrust.org to help clean up ocean oil spills

Being "eco"...    
Being aware of our environment has always been very important to us.  Enough so that we wanted to incorporate it into our new name ecoblu spa and salon (formerly Oasis Day Spa). Our recent move has allowed us to focus our efforts on reducing our carbon footprint.  We used many "green" products in the build out of our new space as well as furnishing it with sustainable materials: from our front desk to our styling stations to our massage tables.  Our new appliances are energy efficient and we use 100% recycled paper and bags. Now that Harker Heights has a recycling station we are able to recycle the boxes, paper and plastic bottles that we use daily in the salon and spa.  Thanks to Aveda's Caps Recycling Program* we are able to present an exclusive program that will allow our community to recycle plastic bottle caps that are generally not accepted in most recycling stations. These caps can have devastating results to birds and marine wildlife that mistake them for food. (*contact us for more info on this program).  We use environmentally friendly cleaning products, energy efficient lighting and we reduce paper waste and product waste as much as possible.  

Aveda has always been mindful of the need to reduce their environmental foot print through every package they develop.  They achieve this by minimizing packaging, maximizing the use of post-consumer recycled material, using materials that can be and are recyclable, and by designing packaging so that the individual parts can be separated for recycling.  They also work with suppliers who manufacture packaging materials using renewable energy.  Aveda was the first beauty company manufacturing with 100% wind power.
